BOOK ILLUSTRATION, FONT, DESIGN and LAYOUT
I was commissioned to create this fully illustrated family trail project for the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) and also National Trust at Montacute House, for a new portrait exhibition (2017 - 2019)
It was designed to support a new collection of historic NPG portrait paintings chosen by postgraduates of Bristol University, for Montacute House to display, to commemorate the centenary of Women's Suffrage 2018. Therefore, it is based heavily on 'strong women in history'.
I enjoy detail and artwork that shows you something new each time you look at it. There is so much to find in the Tudor portraits of this exhibition. So I incorporated this into my illustrations to give children and adults something new to find and wonder about, even after the Montacute House experience..
NT VISITOR REVIEW: One of the best trails for kids we have experienced at a National Trust property. It definitely got them looking around and we spent a good hour and a half in there, normally we'd last 20 mins tops!
BOOK ILLUSTRATION, FONT, DESIGN and LAYOUT
These penguin images and the fully illustrated and designed family trail booklet they are in, were commissioned by SS Great Britain Trust, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ship's homecoming from the Falkland Islands to Bristol, in 1970.
The event has been postponed to later in the year, due to the Covid-19 Gov guidelines.
ALBUM COVER DESIGN illustrations for 'CONTRAST' album for the London band, 'Get Your Head Straight'
The brief was very specific which helped to speed up the design stage.
Detail was the main brief request, including a strong outline to all the elements.
The internal cover illustrations contrast that of the external album cover.
ALBUM COVER DESIGN:
(DIVERS by Joanna Newsom)
This cover was designed for a BA project.
Inspired by Joanna Newsom herself and her dedication to her art, I researched all of the hidden stories and poems linked to the album and was heavily inspired by these alone. The finished cover, whilst ethereal in communication, represents many of the stories within the album.
ALBUM COVER DESIGN:
FACE YOUR FEAR
by Santiago Street Machine
This cover was created for a competition to design an album cover, promoted through social media.
I used my own photography of street art, illustration and Adobe Photoshop to create it.
I used the concept of ' looking into the face of evil' and whilst doing so, I thought about what the devil would fear and concluded with the balance of good and evil; ying and yang. And this is where I came up with the two faces facing each other; almost as a mirror image.
